Sadly, my wife's uncle passed away and our trip was canceled.
The concert sounds like it was amazing and I have watched footage proving so.
Will hope to be around next time in Israel & will most definitely catch them around here next tour.

I read the bashed Metalist review. I think the general theme of the review is that DT are fading in the last years into super technical soul-less group. I do not agree that they became soul-less but definitely the are not as strong as in the past.
My point is that the author was more reviewing DT than the show. Having said that I think his opinion is valid and should not be "banned" to be displayed among the other reviews.
One thing I definitely agree with the guy. The Great Debate has no place in live shows.

Also from what I saw Mangini till now, I definitely don't think he is "much better" than Portnoy. I don't like the way he departed DT, but saying Mangini is a much better drummer is just ridiculous.

אין ספק שמנג'יני מתופף הרבה יותר מהיר ואולי טכני מפורטנוי, אבל אם לא היה פורטנוי, לא היה מנג'יני לדעתי (כמו עוד הרבה מתופפים) ומייק עשה המון בדרים והצליח ממש עם להקה, כאשר מנג'יני תמיד עבר מלהקה ללהקה ולא ממש יצר לעצמו שם בתור מתופף של להקה, אלא יותר כמתופף אדיר שבעיקר שובר שיאי גינס על מערכות תופים.

שניהם אדירים, אבל בתור פרופורמר ועד היום לפחות - בתור מוזיקאי ויוצר, פורטנוי הרבה יותר גדול ממנג'יני.

בכל מקרה, מה שחשוב זה שבדרים יש מתופף אדיר, שיכול לנגן את התפקידים של מייק ורק נקווה שמהדיסק הבא הוא גם יתרום הרבה יותר מבחינה מוזיקלית.

Sorry but I respectfully disagree

First thing is first - if the writer of the review wants to write a review about the band, he shouldn't disguise it as a review about the live performance. More importantly, he shouldn't mix his opinions and views about the band with a review about the live show. In other words - he may think DT is soul-less and that even may be valid (will get to that in a sec) but to say that the live show was soul-less, makes me think he was either not there or that the reviewer is blind, deaf and dumb (no mistake - I meant it that way )

As for the soul-less thing - saying that DT is not as strong as it used to be is an opinion that a lot of people share (again not me personally but a bit on that later) but going as far as soul-less - those are harsh words man. And from my experience when people resort to these kind of expressions it implies both a personal agenda and strong emotion. I believe that I referred in my previous post to why I believe the point of view of the reviewer is very much influenced by his life sleeping away from being a young stud to a middle aged grumpy old man

Lastly - I don't even think DT are that less strong or even at all less strong than they used to. Now normally I make it a point not to disagree with experts - which given your status is what you guys probably are but I do have the fresh point of view perspective/advantage. There is a different thread about which albums are better (old ones or new ones) and so on and I surely think they are different. But people who have been listening to DT for some time may be used to a certain sound and may not like the change. I came about to listen to Dt like a new kid entering a candy store where all candy from all era is available. While I certainly like the old candy - they taste sort of old. The new candy on the other hand - tastes sweeeeeeeet
