The first thing I notice about the artwork is the door. It's a dark, cold-looking room, but the child is leaving and going to the light outside. Possible TGP reference?

זו הליריקה שאנחנו שומעים בסוף TGP ואז סאונד של בקבוק נשבר.
The title "The Shattered Fortress" also seems to be a reference to the AA saga. I always took the term "glass prison" to be the physical form of a bottle, and it makes sense that the prison (fortress) would be shattered now, at the end of this saga. Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like at the boy's feet there are the shattered (heh) remnants of a broken bottle. Or something broken, definitely.
There seems to be a definite theme of 4 throughout the artwork... not only are there 4 moons and 4 books, but there are 4 different creatures, and 4 words in the title, too. The color scheme and the entire look of the album is very similar to Awake, especially in the comparison of the mirror in Awake and the doorway of this one. This could possibly be a reference to where the AA saga all started, with The Mirror, and is now coming to a close.
